The newest New Orleans maritime Mardi Gras tradition has arrived!
You are invited to join the Krewe of Semper Paratus as they celebrate the arrival of his excellency, the Magistrate of the Port, when he assumes his Mardi Gras duties and observes Customs of the Seas over the bayous, harbors, and ports of New Orleans.
So come one, come all, every ship captain and mythical creature of the coast. This is a ball for our Coasties, Coastie families and friends, the men and women who serve our country (all military branches), and the maritime community upon whose shoulders the heritage of the great Port of New Orleans is built.
Happening on the evening of January 16, 2026 at 7:00 P.M. at Capulet in the Bywater.
“The Customs of the Sea”
Throughout the maritime history of the world, practice and tradition had established Customs to be observed by all the sea-going nations of the world and their sailors. As the inaugural theme for the Coastie Mardi Gras Ball, we celebrate this unique and important aspect of maritime heritage which connects all Coasties and mariners together through the observance of these traditions. Drawing upon this inspiration, “The Customs of the Sea” will establish a Mardi Gras tradition where a new port Magistrate will assume ceremonial duties exercising an observance of Customs as ship captains arrive to deliver their precious cargoes of joy and merriment to New Orleans and its people at the beginning of every Carnival Season.
THANK YOU TO ALL OUR KREWE OF SEMPER PARATUS SPONSORS FOR THEIR GENEROUS SUPPORT AND ASSISTANCE!
